The Shape of Memory 2025-2026

In The Shape of Memory, form, surface, and emotion converge through tactile processes of layering, stitching, burning, and wrapping. The works move beyond the traditional picture plane, incorporating shaped substrates—cardboard, illustration board, and painted papers—transformed through physical manipulation.

Torn, rust-stained, sewn, and scorched, each piece carries traces of what has happened to it. The series considers memory not as a fixed image or complete account, but as something embedded in material—partial, fragile, altered, and continually resurfacing. There is no single narrative, only suggestions of remnants and rituals, of what is carried forward and what reappears in changed form.
