Lisa
Pressman employs bold brushwork, mark making and layering
to create abstract paintings awash with color and scored
with texture. Her most recent works are reminiscent both
of geographic territory and of areas of experience. She
has been described as ”a lyrical painter in love
with color."
Lisa
began her artistic journey as a potter at Douglass College,
Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she studied ceramics
with Hui Ka Kwong. Though she briefly transitioned to sculpture
while in graduate school, she has found her place as a
painter. Despite her switch from potting to painting, her
work remains rooted in natural elements such as fire, water,
light and earth. As her painting continues to evolve, it
becomes more tactile and has begun to incorporate collage,
wax and mixed media.
